OK, I'm cheating a bit!
We haven't quite cracked $30k, but we're close! We'll likely hit it in the wee hours, so I'm announcing the $35k Stretch Goal a bit early! But first things first. Let's talk a bit about what we've unlocked before we talk about what's to come.
Hitting $30k means we're expanding the number of Traits in the corebook. Traits are the foundation of any Maverick. Each category represents a unique facet of your character- the abilities that make your Maverick wyrd-er than all the other regular folk. There are four categories to choose from when creating your Maverick:
BLOOD
Blood Traits represent a Maverick’s heritage or ancestry. Mavericks can have the blood of demons, descend from powerful witches, or be touched by eldritch power. Blood Traits grant powerful abilities but can also have drawbacks, like odd compulsions or weaknesses.
FLESH
Flesh Traits are physical characteristics that provide Mavericks with advantages in combat and other challenges. For example, a Maverick might have a strong back that allows them to carry heavy loads, or a quick tongue that lets them talk their way out of difficult situations.
DISPOSITION
Disposition Traits represent a Maverick’s personality and influence how they interact with the game world. For example, the Maverick might be an intellectual that enjoys studying ancient texts and solving puzzles. Or, they might be a hot-tempered gunslinger who is quick to draw and even quicker on the trigger. Disposition Traits provide bonuses to certain Skills or Abilities and give extra opportunities to earn Aces. Mavericks can gain Aces from their Disposition once per Stretch.
CALLING
Calling Traits are talents that a Maverick has learned over their lifetime. This category includes things like public speaking, cooking, or medical training. These Traits are especially useful when Mavericks need to perform specific tasks, such as surgery or tracking.
What new Traits would you like to see in Huckleberry? Leave a comment and let me know. We might be able to make it happen! ;)

Camouflage is a common tactic in both mundane and Fifth World canyons, but being Wyrd-touched gives it a whole other layer. Living Rocks aren’t rocks at all, though you wouldn’t be faulted for mistaking them. At least, until the giant scorpions unfurl themselves from where they were sleeping and turn their irate stingers on you.
Feral quadruped creatures who stalk wells and other water sources, lying still beneath the surface, waiting to pounce on folks who approach to drink. They can mimic human voice and have a tail that ends in a clawed hand they use to grasp their prey.. They relish the taste of drowned, bloated corpses.
A gnarled juniper tree with branches that rattle without wind. Chitters echo from its hollow, dried trunk.
A headless corpse with its chest slit apart, each side opening and closing like a door to reveal its entrails. It prowls the night in search of people to cut off their heads. For some unknown reason, it prefers to haunt those who harbor fear and doubt.
George is gonna be busy enough as it is, but I think we can press him for a few more goodies, don't you? If we hit $35,000, we'll commission additional full page spreads to make Huckleberry even prettier than it already is!
Much obliged, pardner!
